The Undoing of Me

Oh, how my feelings, my thoughts, my opinions, my hurts, my longings get in the way…in the way of becoming who God created me to be. How easy it is for Satan to whisper those feelings and thoughts, rejections and criticisms, hurts and aches in my ear and distract me from God’s purpose for me. Growing into who God says that we are to be is hard. Can I get a witness? I take two steps forward and three back. I analyze and overthink and try to figure it all out. Therein lies the problem. I am not God. He is. And so there must be the undoing of me.

“… let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1

The undoing of me begins with the laying aside of every weight that we have picked up along the way. That includes anything that would slow us down or trip us up as we run. God wants us to experience a spiritual purging, cleansing. Please tell me this resonates with you. Surely, I am not the only one who needs to be undone. Are you carrying around excess weight that holds you back from running your race?  Have you become easily ensnared? If so, let’s begin the undoing of me…

When we think of this weight, our sin, we tend to want to believe it is only the visible, blatant sins that we need to sit down. But…we are called to look deeper, look within. What weights are we each personally carrying? The need for approval of people is a weight. Pride, selfish-ambition, and self-centeredness are all weights. Doubt is a weight. Disobedience, putting anything before God, lack of time with Him, disbelief that He wants to use ‘me’, insecurity, fear, pretending to be perfect, carrying grudges, refusing to forgive, choosing to not love, serving for appearance sake, harboring resentment, negativity, finding fault with others, being judgmental, and on and on are all weights. The only way I know to lay aside every weight is to sit down whatever we are carrying and raise our hands to the heavens in total surrender!

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

This scripture tells us how to become undone – how to lay aside every weight. We are to look unto Jesus. Looking means fixing our eyes on Him. Fixing our eyes on Him means no longer looking at our hurt feelings, our desires, or our worldly needs. It requires focusing on Christ and not on our circumstances. It is raising our hands in surrender to the One who bore our shame, endured the cross and now sits at the right hand of God. We are to be like Him. He focused on the joy that came with the crown. He focused on the reward. He did not focus on the agony of the cross or His suffering. He saw beyond all of that. He walked His path, bore His cross because He trusted God’s plan for His 33 years on this planet. So…shouldn’t we do the same? Let’s pray…

“Father God, help me! Please forgive me for focusing on me, my circumstances, my pain and my plans. God help me focus on You and all that You have done for me. Fill me up with joy that can only come from my relationship with Jesus and the hope I have in Him. Help me walk my path, carry my cross with my eyes fixed on You and Your purpose for each giant I encounter. God, help me surrender all of my life to You. God, undo me… undo me.”

Hi friend 🤍

If you’ve ever felt called to more… but unsure what your next step is—you are not alone.

My name is Pam Pegram, and I’m a Leadership and Personal Growth Coach who loves Jesus.

I help Christian women gain clarity, build confidence, and step into Christ-centered influence—at work, in their community, and at home.

Because you were never meant to just get by…
You were created to live with purpose, impact others, and walk fully in what God has for you.

Here’s what I believe:

  • If you are a believer, you are called to lead

  • Leadership is influence—being salt and light (Matthew 5)

  • It’s not about position, personality, or platform

  • It’s about living on purpose right where God has placed you

How do we do that?

Through the Called to Lead Framework, where we focus on:

✔️ The formation of you as a leader (identity, mindset, beliefs)
✔️ The formation of your leadership (connection, vision, influence)
✔️ The practical application of impacting others and leaving a legacy

Now that you’re here—let’s stay connected 🤍
