Feeling Down? Look Up!
Feeling Down? We tend to make our problems, worries, concerns and hurts BIG, which causes our faith in God to become small. Why do we do that? Why do we focus on what is wrong and choose to not think about what is right and what is good? We become so focused on what is pulling us down that we lose sight of the One True thing that can lift us up. Are you feeling down? Look up!

My help comes from the Lord,
The Maker of heaven and earth.

If we allow our faith to be small, even for a minute, then our flesh becomes energized by Satan. He wreaks havoc. Our feelings rise up and cause us to throw a pity party, react, and spiral downward into a pit of discouragement, disappointment and despair. Who’s got time for that? We have a better option to choose. Feeling down? Look Up!
In Galatians 5:16-17, we are told to “walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other.” Do you know that verses 19-21 list out what our flesh causes us to do? Some pretty bad things are listed, but also included in that list are strife or contentions, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, envy, etc. When those arise in our life, we can be sure that we are walking in our flesh and not in the Spirit.
When we fix our eyes on the Lord and choose to walk in the Spirit – the Holy Spirit that is – He will produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in us. (vs. 22-23) Ask yourself today, am I walking in my flesh or am I walking in the Spirit?
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. ”
Look up! God is BIGGER than our circumstances, our fears and our heartaches. He loves us and is faithful to fulfill His promises to us. He loves us with an everlasting love, defends us and uses everything we endure for good. He is faithful to supply all we need to go forward. And when we do not know how to pray or what to ask for, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf and prays for us with groanings.
Look up! The maker of heaven of earth loves you and helps you. He is with you wherever you go, whatever you encounter, no matter how challenging the path may become. Look up and trust in Him. He is all you need.
