Learn to Build a Strong Support System and Lead with Confidence
Have you ever felt like leadership is just… hard?
You have a lot of responsibility, a lot of hard decisions to make, and a lot of relationships to manage. As a believer, you know you are not alone, because God is with you. Yet, you long for someone to audibly tell you what to do. Like… if God would just drop a note down from Heaven with clear instructions all would be well. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
Hmmm… But then we wouldn’t need faith or courage or…. Well - let’s get back to the topic at hand…
We aren’t meant to lead alone.
Yes, we should rely on the truth of God’s word, our relationship with Jesus, and the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
But, the Bible also instructs us to do life in community, to seek wise counsel, and to remember that iron sharpens iron.
So, to lead with confidence, we should have a strong support system in place. Today, I want to walk you through 5 areas of support every woman needs - especially if you leading at work, in your community, or in your home.
You may be wondering why this is important. Well…
we are meant to do life in community
we are better together
support grows our confidence, increases our clarity, and strengthens our leadership
stress decreases
peace is restored
Ready?
Let’s look at 5 types of support every leader needs—and help you start building yours.
1. Your Spiritual Foundation (Your First and Most Important Support)
Before anything else, we have to start here. Your relationship with God is your primary support system.
When you’re rooted in truth, you don’t get tossed around by lies. Because let’s be honest—how often do these thoughts creep in?
“I can’t do this.”
“This is too much.”
“I’m overwhelmed.”
And what do we do? We believe them. Then our anxiety grows.
But when you know God’s Word, you can respond with truth:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“God is with me.”
“He will guide me.”
Truth steadies you. It grounds you. It reminds you who you are and how to move forward—no matter what you’re facing. And friend, that is powerful support.
2. Community with Other Believers
You were not created to do life alone. You need community.
That looks like:
Church
Bible study
A group of like-minded women
Christian business or leadership communities
But here’s something important to remember…You don’t want to just go looking for support—you want to become someone who gives it.
So many women say, “I can’t find my people.” And often? It’s because they’re waiting to be supported instead of stepping in to support others first.
Community is a two-way street.
You show up.
You invest.
You build relationships.
And over time… You find your people.
3. Your Inner Circle (Your “Three People”)
You can have a lot of friends, but still feel unsupported. That’s why you need a small, trusted inner circle. Jesus modeled this concept for us.
Consider…Do you have 2–3 people who:
Know what you’re carrying
Understand you and your life
Will support you AND challenge you
These are the people who can say:
“Hey… I think you’re off course here.”
“Pause. That’s not the right move.”
“You’re believing something that isn’t true.”
And you trust them enough to listen. This type of feedback is love. This is iron sharpening iron. Those who love us enough to speak into our life help us to see things we are missing. If you have this - cherish it.
But… be sure these three are aligned with your values. If you want to follow God’s Word, your inner circle should point you back to truth… not away from it.
4. A Mentor or Coach
This one is a game changer. Because here’s the truth; We all have blind spots. Some things are our fault. Sometimes we are the problem. Sometimes we are believing something that is not true. We have developed a pattern we don’t realize. Often we are holding ourselves back and missing what someone else can see clearly.
We can’t fix what we can’t see.
That’s why having a mentor or coach is so powerful.
They can…
Call out the lies
Help you gain clarity, grow in confidence
Give you a new perspective
Equip you to take your next step
And friend, this is an investment. In your growth. In your leadership. In your calling. And I can testify that having a coach is one of the best investments I have ever made. The return on the investment is life changing.
If you’re serious about becoming the leader God is calling you to be, don’t skip this.
5. Professional Support (When Life Gets Hard)
There are seasons, when life is difficult. There are hard situations, family struggles, trauma, and emotional weight that wears you down.
And it’s okay if in those moments, you need professional support.
A Christian counselor or therapist can help you:
Process what you’re walking through
Help you heal emotionally
Because it’s not just what happens to you, it’s how you process it that shapes you.
And getting support in those seasons is not weakness. It’s wisdom.
Let’s Bring It All Together

Hi friend 🤍
If you’ve ever felt called to more… but unsure what your next step is—you are not alone.
My name is Pam Pegram, and I’m a Leadership and Personal Growth Coach who loves Jesus.
I help Christian women gain clarity, build confidence, and step into Christ-centered influence—at work, in their community, and at home.
Because you were never meant to just get by…
You were created to live with purpose, impact others, and walk fully in what God has for you.
Here’s what I believe:
If you are a believer, you are called to lead
Leadership is influence—being salt and light (Matthew 5)
It’s not about position, personality, or platform
It’s about living on purpose right where God has placed you
How do we do that?
Through the Called to Lead Framework, where we focus on:
✔️ The formation of you as a leader (identity, mindset, beliefs)
✔️ The formation of your leadership (connection, vision, influence)
